A sense of belonging to something bigger. Millions of Europeans feel proud of both their homeland and their shared European identity.
Every day we hear what’s wrong with the European Union. And indeed, there’s plenty to criticize. Complaining is part of our culture, and we’re hardly unique in that — every nation does it. But let’s take a moment to look at Europe differently. As a community with countless remarkable qualities. As a region that consistently ranks among the top in the world for quality of life, education, safety, and human rights. As a place where people from across the globe choose to live — drawn by freedom, equality, and solidarity.
Give me a chance to show you that life in the European Union today is among the best in the entire world. It may sound bold, perhaps even a little audacious — but through facts and stories, I’ll show you it’s entirely true.
And we’re among the wealthiest five percent of the planet. That’s a pretty good reason to feel grateful, isn’t it?
In most ratings and indexes, we place in the upper half — together creating an impressive picture.
We might one day look back on today as the best period in Europe's history.
All sourced — useful when you’re debating “over a beer.”
This book is about us Europeans — for us Europeans. I’d be very glad to hear any of your thoughts or feedback.
